### Getting Started

This site is used mostly for authentication, though it’s a full Discourse community (what my company has done mostly exclusively for the past decade).

Head over to [https://www.refrunner.com/](https://www.refrunner.com/) to get started.

Here are some things to try:

- **I’ve got a paper I’m about to submit** Give your paper to RefRunner and it’ll check every paper that should have a DOI, make sure the reference matches, and insert missing DOIs. It also looks up a bunch of other stuff from [OpenAlex](https://openalex.org/), and finds books at the Library of Congress and the Open Library. There’s nothing to learn or install, and no AI. It’s supposed to Just Work, and Mostly it does.
- **I’ve got a paper and am dreading looking all of the references** Give your paper to RefRunner and it’ll find all of your (Author, year) citations and help you look them up. Most of the time, a single click is all that’s needed to insert the reference.
- **I hate that Google Scholar doesn’t give me DOIs** Click the [scholar link](https://www.refrunner.com/scholar) at the top of the page. Search OpenAlex (less stuff than Google Scholar, but that’s mostly a good thing). You can build a reference list with a click per reference and format in any style.
