What should have happened
RefRunner included part of reference #13 (starting with “K. H.”) in reference 12. This error occurred frequently in an uploaded PDF.

Numeric citations weren’t well-tested, and two-column PDFs (which I suspect is what you uploaded) are tricky, with characters from one column ending up in another. We made a fix that I think should solve your problem (but without your PDF I can’t know for sure).
Then, to test further, I got 15 publications from each of IEEE Access, IEEE Open Journal of the Computer Society, and IEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine and tested those, and found a couple other issues, like numeric ranges being reported in square brackets (like “[80–155] mmHg”) being erroneously identified as citations. There were a few others, but they are too esoteric to be interesting, I think!
Please reload the page (the Release Date should be today) and try the file again. If it still doesn’t work, please send me the file and I’ll figure out what the problem is.
